A study carried out specifically on organ transplant recipients suggest that they show poor antibody response to the COVID-19 vaccines. Moreover, out of all the people who participated in the study, only 17 per cent developed a detectable amount of antibody response in about 2 weeks after getting the first dose of an mRNA vaccine. After the second dose, antibody responses were detectable in 54 per cent of participants. The researchers of the study also found that transplant patients were severely at risk of infection and serious outcomes.

However, it is important to remember that the study was specifically carried out on organ transplant recipients. The antibody response generated due to vaccines in people suffering from other immunocompromised diseases might be different.
