Rising international gas costs is not going to have an effect on electrical energy or water charges right here, President Irfaan Ali assured yesterday, whereas saying authorities will offset any enhance.
“Right here in Guyana the federal government isn’t going permit that enhance to be translated to the folks of the nation. We stated to each entities Guyana Energy and Mild [GPL] and Guyana Water Inc [GWI] that you’re not going to extend by a cent. The federal government will take will take up the extra expenditure and fill the hole…,” Ali introduced to loud applause from the gathering on the commissioning of a brand new $141 million effectively at Lusignan, East Coast Demerara.
Final week, GPL hinted at a hike because it knowledgeable that the regular rise in gas costs was negatively affecting its operations and will it proceed, would have an opposed impact on income generated.
