JACKSON — 5 gardens and 4 properties within the premier neighborhood of Meadowbrook Highlands will likely be featured within the Backyard Membership of Jackson’s twelfth biennial Spring Backyard Tour.

The 2-day occasion is about for Wednesday and Thursday, April 6-7, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m., rain or shine.

The 5 gardens characteristic a wide range of gardening interpretations utilizing a number of perennials, annuals, vines, bulbs, shrubbery, bushes and kitchen herbs — plus some synthetic turf. The gardens vary from English cottage to minimalist, from French formal to modern. Tour headquarters on Wednesday and Thursday will likely be at 4000 Ridgewood Street, exterior Covenant Presbyterian Church. Guests could park and experience the shuttle to Meadowbrook Highlands, a gated neighborhood. Tour tickets ($20) and raffle tickets for an authentic portray by GCJ member and artist Pryor Buford Lampton ($10 or three for $25) could also be bought at tour headquarters or on-line at gardenclubofjackson.com. Proceeds from the 2022 Tour will restore and remodel the 1925 Tudor Revival storage of internationally acclaimed creator Eudora Welty (1909-2001) into devoted classroom house for horticultural actions and workshops. Welty, a Pulitzer Prize-winning creator and Jackson native, was an avid gardener who personally tended her gardens in Belhaven, her residence for practically 80 years, and infrequently used parts of the backyard in her books.
