Two states have briefly suspended their gasoline tax as costs on the pump have soared within the US amid inflation and Russia’s struggle with Ukraine.

Drivers in Georgia and Maryland had been granted the much-needed reduction after lawmakers in these states halted the taxes final Friday.

Maryland acted first, pausing its gasoline tax for 30 days by way of April 16, Gov. Larry Hogan stated on Twitter.

Drivers within the Previous Line State will briefly save $0.36 cents per gallon of gasoline and $0.37 on diesel after costs rose by greater than $0.40 in a single week to a mean of $3.85, CNN reported.
