Implementation of 1% E-Levy begins from January 11, 2023 – Telecoms Chamber

Following the directive from the Commissioner Normal of the Ghana Income Authority (GRA), the implementation of the revised Digital Switch Levy (E-Levy) price of 1% by cellular service suppliers will start from tomorrow January 11, 2023.

The service suppliers are Airtel Cell Commerce (Ghana) Restricted, GCB G-Cash, Cell Cash Restricted, Vodafone Cell Monetary Providers Restricted and Zeepay Ghana Restricted.

An announcement from the Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications assured most of the people that its members are working assiduously with the GRA and different key establishments, to make sure a seamless implementation of the revised E-Levy from January 11, 2023.

“The Chamber wish to guarantee most of the people that its members are working assiduously with the GRA and different key establishments, to make sure a seamless implementation of the revised levy from Wednesday January 11, 2023”.

“As captured within the Digital Switch Levy (Modification) Act, 2022, Act 1089 which has been handed by parliament and assented to by the President, the levy on digital transfers has been diminished from 1.5% to 1%, whereas the GHS 100 threshold stays unchanged”, it stated.

The E-Levy was launched within the 2022 finances as further income mobilisation deal with to assist authorities’s quest to undertake some essential initiatives and enhance the standard of service for the telecommunication trade.
