‘Stickwork’ set up opens at Huntsville Botanical Backyard

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Huntsville Botanical Backyard provides a brand new artwork set up for guests! The semi-permanent exhibit is known as ‘Stickwork’ – by North Carolina artist Patrick Dougherty.

Huntsville Botanical Backyard mentioned Dougherty, “Impressed by his love of nature and empowered by his expertise in carpentry and sculpture, Dougherty has constructed over 300 Stickwork installations world wide and has obtained quite a few awards for his work, together with the 2011 Issue Prize for Southern Artwork, North Carolina Artist Fellowship Award, Pollock-Krasner Basis Grant, Henry Moore Basis Fellowship, Japan-US Artistic Arts Fellowship, and Nationwide Endowment for the Arts Fellowship.”

The large sculpture spearheaded by Dougherty is made up of domestically sourced sapling branches.

Greater than 100 group volunteers pitched in to assemble the sculpture by harvesting and weaving the native sapling branches.

Coordinators say work started February 7, and might be accomplished by the tip of February. They are saying the brand new set up helps join guests to each artwork and nature.
