US appoints first cryptocurrency crime czar as North Korean cybertheft ramps up

The Division of Justice (DOJ) on Thursday tapped Eun Younger Choi to go its new crypto crime process drive, pushing ahead Washington’s efforts to grapple with more and more refined cybercrimes from North Korea and a spread of different actors.

Choi will head the DOJ’s Nationwide Cryptocurrency Enforcement Staff (NCET), which was created final October to strengthen U.S. efforts to tamp down on the unlawful use of cryptocurrencies.
