The Chamber of Vehicle Dealership Ghana (CADEG) is lamenting the low patronage of used automobiles, following a current raid by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (BFI) from the USA, and the Financial and Organised Crime Workplace (EOCO) in Ghana.

In keeping with the Common Secretary of the Chamber, George Dumenu, the raid has created distrust between purchasers of used automobiles and their dealerships.

“Majority of those automobiles are literally not stolen as is been alleged. Is it attainable that an authorised Ghanaian importer can outwit the inspector companies of developed nations like US and Canada?”, he queried.

He identified that the checks and balances in developed nations are so strict and sophiscated to permit stolen automobiles slip by the system.

“The raid has had grave penalties for our enterprise within the used auto dealership in Ghana by creating an enormous distrust between purchasers of used automobiles in our dealerships,” he burdened.

On December, 9 2022, EOCO in collaboration with the FBI and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police raided quite a lot of used auto dealerships and retrieved a number of imported luxurious automobiles suspected to have been stolen from United States of America and Canada.

In view of this, the Chamber of Vehicle Dealership Ghana held a stakeholder assembly with safety companies to get readability on the foregoing to allow the chamber educate its members.

Mr. Dumenu acknowledged that “we need to get readability on the foregoing to allow CADEG educate its members, our clients and most people. This we consider will avert such unlucky incident which occurred on Friday December 9, 2022 from reoccurring.
